Requirements before you start

Step-by-step installation
Step 1 — Disable your antivirus (or add an exclusion)
Before downloading, either temporarily disable Windows Defender or add an exclusion for your Downloads folder. GTweak modifies system settings, so antivirus tools often flag it incorrectly as a threat. It is open source and safe — you can review the code on GitHub yourself.
To add an exclusion in Windows Defender: go to Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Manage settings → Add or remove exclusions, then add your Downloads folder.
Step 2 — Download GTweak
Go to the official GitHub releases page and download the latest version:
You will get a single file called gtweak.exe. That is the whole app — no installer, no extra folders.
Step 3 — Run as Administrator
Right-click on gtweak.exe and select Run as administrator. This is required — GTweak needs admin rights to apply system changes.

Step 4 — Explore the tabs
GTweak opens with a clean dashboard. Here is what each tab does:
- Utilities — clear RAM, temp files, icon cache, delete Windows.old
- Confidentiality — disable telemetry, keyloggers, data collection tasks
- Interface — change themes, taskbar layout, icons, and window settings
- Applications — remove OneDrive, Edge, Cortana, Copilot, Recall, and pre-installed UWP apps
- Services — disable unnecessary Windows background services
- System — apply performance power plan, fix audio delay, adjust keyboard/mouse settings
- Add-ons — run custom scripts with TrustedInstaller privileges
Step 5 — Apply your tweaks
Toggle the settings you want on or off. A recommended starting point for most users:

Step 6 — Restart your PC
